After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Classical Academy, Valhalla was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They breezed by the Mar Vista Mariners on the road to the tune of 51-21. The high-scoring effort was just what the Norsemen needed considering they were shutout in their previous matchup.

Marcus Mikhail had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 109 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries. Joshua Armstrong handled things on the ground, rushing for 80 yards.

Armstrong wasn't the only one working in the rushing yards department: Valhalla was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 295 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in August of 2023.

One reason for the win was Valhalla's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Zachary Haggar. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up three sacks and making six total tackles (4.0 for loss).

When it comes to explaining why Mar Vista lost, don't look at Ciontae Fewell. Despite the final result, he picked up 84 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 53 yards. Another player making a difference was Peter Thomas, who threw for 98 yards and two touchdowns.

Valhalla's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-1. As for Mar Vista, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.
