Basketball Recap: Hickory Ridge Finds Home Court Redemption Against Cox Mill

There's no place like home for Hickory Ridge, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They snuck past the Cox Mill Chargers with an 83-79 victory on Friday. That's more bragging rights for the Ragin' Bulls, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Despite the loss, Cox Mill saw an underclassman step up: freshman Sherod McCmormick went 6 of 13 on his way to 21 points. McCmormick's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Cruz Miller was another key player, putting up 16 points and seven boards.

The win got Hickory Ridge back to even at 8-8. As for Cox Mill, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.

Hickory Ridge didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 59-46 defeat against Concord Academy on the 18th. Cox Mill has also already played their next matchup, a 53-49 loss against East Mecklenburg on the 18th.
