Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Grants). They never let the Newcomb Skyhawks get on the board and left with an 18-0 win on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Skyhawks: they've now won five in a row.
Alynn Othole looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Olivia Toivanen and Delilah Martinez did most of the damage at the plate: Toivanen fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-3, while Martinez went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Those two home runs gave Toivanen a new career-high. Melia Chavez also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Grants kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in nine consecutive games.
