Volleyball Recap: Four Straight Road Wins for Houston County

Houston County hadn't done well against Waverly Central recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Fighting Irish had just enough and edged out the Tigers 3-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-2 on September 4th.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (106-96) Houston County actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The match finished with set scores of 9-25, 25-23, 22-25, 25-23, 15-10.

Their offense was headlined by Savanna Drew and Madison Russell, who picked up 14 kills apiece. They got some help from Briley Bucciarelli and her 31 assists. Drew also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Peyton Brooks, racking up three apiece.

Houston County's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-7. As for Waverly Central, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-9.
