Basketball Game Preview: Lincolnton Wolves vs. Bandys Trojans

Lincolnton hasn't had much luck against Bandys recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Lincolnton Wolves will host the Bandys Trojans at 6:15 p.m. Lincolnton will be strutting in after a victory while Bandys will be coming in after a defeat.

Lincolnton will bounce into Tuesday's matchup after beating West Lincoln, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Lincolnton came out on top against West Lincoln by a score of 40-29 on Saturday. While the Wolves didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Meanwhile, Bandys lost 68-42 to North Lincoln on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 160th, while the Knights are ranked 45th).

Lincolnton will have to keep a close watch on Lexi Vaughan and Haley Cross, a pair of players who had a big impact on Bandys' prior game. Vaughan dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 boards, while Cross posted eight points. The game was Vaughan's fourth in a row with at least ten points.

Even though they lost, Bandys smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

The win made it two in a row for Lincolnton and bumps their season record up to 7-4. As for Bandys, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.

Lincolnton suffered a grim 61-35 defeat to Bandys in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Lincolnton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
