Football Game Preview: St. Mary's Rams vs. Junipero Serra Padres + How To Watch

St. Mary has won ten straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Junipero Serra has won ten straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Rams will welcome the Padres at 7:30 p.m. St. Mary's is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 43 points per game this season.

St. Mary's is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They strolled past Granite Bay with points to spare, taking the game 38-24.

St. Mary's didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Ryan Lozano and Mason Eagal. Lozano has been hot, having also posted five or more total tackles the last six times he's played.

Meanwhile, Junipero Serra earned a 28-21 victory over Los Gatos on Friday.

Junipero Serra's win came from a few key players St. Mary's will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jeovanni Henley, who rushed for 99 yards and one touchdown. Those 99 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Malakai Taufoou was in the mix as well, providing Junipero Serra with two scores.

Junipero Serra was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 348 rushing yards. They are a perfect 6-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

St. Mary's record is now 11-2. As for Junipero Serra, their record now sits at 8-5.

Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. St. Mary's has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 191.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Junipero Serra struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 194.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.

St. Mary's was taken down by Junipero Serra 56-28 in their previous matchup back in September of 2019. Can the Rams avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
