Recap: Bessemer Academy Rebels vs. Lee-Scott Academy Warriors
The Bessemer Academy Rebels waltzed into their game on Saturday with three straight wins but they left with four. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 63-61 win over Lee-Scott Academy. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Bessemer Academy has posted yet this season.
Bessemer Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyseon Smith, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was JJ Jeter, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Bessemer Academy's win bumped their record up to 14-1. As for Lee-Scott Academy, their defeat ended a 18-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 18-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bessemer Academy will take on Monroe Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Monroe Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Lee-Scott Academy, they will be playing at home against Macon-East Montgomery Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Macon-East Montgomery Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 last Thursday.
