Basketball Recap: Argyle Comes Up Short

It was a Battle of the Birds when Argyle challenged Birdville on Saturday. The Argyle Eagles fell to the Birdville Hawks 49-43. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 181st, while the Hawks are ranked 25th).

Argyle's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 11-14. As for Birdville, the win (which was their 22nd in a row) raised their record to 25-1.

Argyle will host Richland at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Birdville, they will square off against Denton at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Denton has won five straight at home, while Birdville won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
