Softball Recap: Centennial Takes a Loss

If Centennial was feeling good fresh off their 14-1 takedown of Paxton-Buckley-Loda on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Chargers fell just short of the Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin Blue Devils by a score of 4-3 on Tuesday.

Zoe Goodreau put in work while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 16 over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double.

Goodreau wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Sydney Hall, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Centennial's loss dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-16 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Centennial will challenge Glenwood at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Chargers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Titans have averaged an impressive 10.3 runs per game this season. As for Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin, they will square off against LeRoy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
