Softball Recap: Newfield Wolverines vs. Northport Tigers

Newfield had lost eight straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 4-12 to make it nine. They came up short against the Northport Tigers, falling 20-6. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, with their most recent defeat being a 20-3 loss back in April.

Newfield saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alyssa Micari, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI.

As for Northport, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-2. Considering they have won 12 matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

On Northport's side, they got a massive performance out of Jamie Anderso, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Jillian Ryan was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs.

Coincidentally, Newfield and Northport will both be playing Commack the next time they take the field. The Tigers will head out to face the Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Wolverines will host them at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
