Basketball Recap: Dunn Takes a Loss

Dunn lost to Santa Clara back in February of 2025 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Earwigs took a blow against the Saints, falling 81-41. The Earwigs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Santa Clara's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jj Ward, who went 8-for-12 to rack up 18 points along with eight boards and six assists. Ward also grabbed five steals, which is notable because the Saints are 12-5 when he posts at least three steals, but 1-5 otherwise. Gio Gude was another key player, shooting 67% from the field on his way to 16 points in addition to eight rebounds and six assists.

Dunn's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 7-5. As for Santa Clara, they pushed their record up to 13-10 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Dunn has already played their next contest (against Providence), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Santa Clara, they will square off against Villanova Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Saints will be up against the Wildcats' rather soft defense (which has allowed 50.38 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
