Softball Recap: Pueblo County Hornets vs. Mesa Ridge Grizzlies
Pueblo County got themselves on the board against Mesa Ridge on Saturday, but Mesa Ridge never followed suit. Everything went their way against the Mesa Ridge Grizzlies as they made off with an 11-0 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Hornets considering their two-run performance the contest before.
Aubree Peralta was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddyn Doose, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Pueblo County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mesa Ridge only posted an OBP of .263.
The victory got Pueblo County back to even at 1-1. As for Mesa Ridge, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pueblo County will host Air Academy at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. As for Mesa Ridge, their homestand will continue as they prepare to take on Cheyenne Mountain at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both are at an even 4-4 against one another since September of 2015.
