Soccer Recap: Contreras Gets Big Win over Higher-Ranked Hawkins

With a playoff win on the line, Contreras rose to the challenge on Thursday. They beat the Hawkins Hawks by a goal, winning 4-3. The win was all the more spectacular given the Cobras' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 895th, while the Hawks are ranked 409th).

The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-11. As for Hawkins, they suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 17-5.

Coming up, Contreras will face off against Burton at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Burton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 4.4 goals per game this season. Hawkins does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
