Basketball Recap: Lumberton Now 9-1 over Last Ten Games

Lumberton hadn't done well against Seventy-First recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Lumberton Pirates secured a 57-52 W over the Seventy-First Falcons. This was payback for the Pirates, who suffered a 79-57 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Lumberton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaiden Shephard, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds. Shephard has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more boards the last 38 times he's played. Christopher Hammonds was another key player, dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.

Lumberton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in ten consecutive contests.

Lumberton is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.7 points per game. As for Seventy-First, their loss ended a 21-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-2.

Lumberton will take on Purnell Swett at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday up 415 places (115 vs. 530). Lumberton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.6 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Seventy-First (ranked 48th) will meet West Charlotte (ranked 173rd) at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
