Baseball Recap: Orono Has No Trouble Against Old Town

Orono hadn't done well against Old Town recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Riots were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over the Coyotes. With that win, the Riots brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Kason Bagley made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Orono is 6-1 when Bagley allows one or fewer earned runs, but 1-7 otherwise. Bagley was also big at the plate, earning one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Orono got a big performance out of Will Francis, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most hits Francis has posted since back in May. Another player making a difference was Andrew Barrett, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Orono and bumps their season record up to 7-8. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Old Town, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Orono will head out to face off against Dexter at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Old Town, they will venture away from home to challenge Caribou at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
