Softball Recap: United Longhorns vs. Pearsall Mavericks
United was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Pearsall Mavericks, falling 9-2. The Longhorns were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mavericks apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2020.
United saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tatiana Mejia, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-1. That's the most stolen bases Mejia has posted since back in March of 2024.
United's loss dropped their record down to 6-11-1. As for Pearsall, they moved to 10-7-1 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.
Coming up, United will take on United South at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup will give United their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season. As for Pearsall, they will square off against Devine at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Devine is on a three-game streak of home wins, Pearsall a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field.
