Recap: Canton Tigers vs. North Shelby Raiders
The Canton Tigers won the last time they faced the North Shelby Raiders, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Canton was the clear victor by a 73-53 margin over North Shelby. Given Canton's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 156th, while North Shelby is ranked 432nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Canton was led to victory by Preston Brewer and Kaden Oliver. Brewer almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds, while Oliver scored 23 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Oliver has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Alspaw, who scored 12 points.
Canton has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. As for North Shelby, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-14.
Canton will head out on the road to face off against Illini West at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Illini West is on a three-game streak of home wins, Canton a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. North Shelby will take on Knox County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
