Volleyball Recap: Durango Demons vs. Bayfield Wolverines
The home team had come away the winner the last four times Durango and Bayfield had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Demons fell 3-1 to the Wolverines on Tuesday. The Demons have struggled against the Wolverines recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-21, 23-25, 25-18.
Devyn Edwards paced Durango's offense, picking up 15 kills. Edwards got some help from Indie Shows and her 26 assists. Shows also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Aysia Mathews, each putting up two.
Lauren Rich was the offensive standout of the contest as she had 13 digs and two aces. What's more, she posted five assists, the most she's had since back in September. Maeli Quintana also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.
Durango's defeat dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Bayfield, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.
