Softball Recap: DeLand Comes Up Short

After flying high against Taylor last Tuesday, DeLand came back down to earth. The DeLand Bulldogs lost 16-5 to the Forest Wildcats on Thursday. If the Bulldogs were looking for revenge after losing 9-3 to the Wildcats when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

De-Niya Padgett made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. That double was her first of the season.

DeLand's record is now 3-5. As for Forest, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-3 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. DeLand will take on New Smyrna Beach at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. DeLand is facing New Smyrna Beach at the right time seeing as New Smyrna Beach is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Forest, they will challenge Gainesville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
