Basketball Recap: Bel Air Skates Past Horizon with Ease

Bel Air won the last time they faced Horizon and things went their way on Friday too. The Highlanders took their game with ease, bagging a 59-25 victory over the Scorpions. The Highlanders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Janiyah Monarez had an outrageously good game as she dropped a double-double with 25 points and 12 rebounds. She is becoming a predictor of Bel Air's success: when she posts at least ten boards the team is 13-3 (and 3-8 when she doesn't). Ciara Acosta was another key player, going 5-for-12 to rack up 14 points and five steals.

Bel Air is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.3 points on average over those games. As for Horizon, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-15.

Bel Air has already played their next game, a 44-42 victory against Parkland on the 10th. Horizon does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
