Basketball Recap: Highlands Takes a Loss

Highlands lost against Hayesville back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Highlands Highlanders took a 36-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hayesville Yellowjackets. The Highlanders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hayesville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Emma Ashe, who posted 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mallory Peck, who had eight points and seven rebounds.

Highlands' loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Hayesville, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Highlands will welcome Hiwassee Dam at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Hiwassee Dam's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matchups. As for Hayesville, they are taking a road trip to take on Swain County at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
