Softball Recap: Huntington Highlanders vs. South Charleston Black Eagles
Huntington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They came up short against the South Charleston Black Eagles, falling 10-3. If the Highlanders were looking for revenge after losing 14-7 to the Black Eagles when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Emma Kelly made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-2. Jayla King also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Huntington's defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for South Charleston, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-9 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Huntington will host Cabell Midland at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Highlanders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 10.1 runs per game this season. As for South Charleston, they will welcome Capital at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
