Basketball Recap: Abbeville's Win Ends Five-Game Losing Streak on the Road

On Friday, the Abbeville Panthers strolled past the Whitmire Wolverines with points to spare, taking the game 37-23. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.

Abbeville was led to victory by Ar'Naisyah Gray and DeLonna Mathis. Gray dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds, while Mathis posted ten points.

Despite the loss, Whitmire saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Brooklynn Babb went 6 of 14 on her way to 17 points. Babb is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kaitlyn Brooks, who had two points and five steals.

Abbeville's victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-1. As for Whitmire, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-9.

As for Whitmire, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 72-24 loss against Ware Shoals on the 7th.
