Softball Recap: Gladstone Triumphs

It may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Gladstone ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They had just enough and edged out The Dalles Riverhawks 4-3. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 23, 2025, but that streak is no more.

Ashlynne Franssen made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 17 batters over ten innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run.

In other batting news, Gabriella Gunderson was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.

Gladstone lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April.

Gladstone's record is now 15-12. As for The Dalles, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gladstone will host Molalla at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for The Dalles, they will welcome Estacada at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Riverhawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rangers have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season.
