Softball Recap: Red Bud Picks Up Tenth Straight Win at Home

With a playoff win on the line, Red Bud rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Nashville Hornets. The Musketeers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 contests by six runs or more this season.

Olivia Geralds made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off ten hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 20 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Ava Wagner was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Crewe Wagner, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Red Bud was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .545. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .323 or higher in four consecutive matchups.

Red Bud's win was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 24-7. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Nashville, their loss dropped their record down to 7-20.

As of now, neither Red Bud nor the Hornets have any future games scheduled.
