Basketball Recap: Jackson Day Comes Up Short

Jackson Day suffered their biggest loss since January 29th on Tuesday. They were dealt a 72-35 defeat at the hands of the Queen's Grant Stallions. The loss continues a trend for the Mariners in their meetings with the Stallions: they've now lost six in a row.

Despite the defeat, Jackson Day saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jaida Thomas posted ten points.

Queen's Grant got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Mekhi Allen out in front who went 7-for-9 en route to 16 points and five boards. The dominant performance also gave Allen a new career-high in shooting accuracy (78%). Another player making a difference was Preston Scott, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine assists.

Jackson Day's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Queen's Grant, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-3.

Jackson Day has already played their next game, a 72-38 defeat against Bishop McGuinness on the 3rd. As for Queen's Grant, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 75-42 win against Bonnie Cone Leadership Academy on the 5th.
