Florence put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 83-81 win over the Show Low Cougars. Given the Gophers' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 39th, while the Cougars are ranked 211th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Florence's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Adrian Taufaasau, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. What's more, Taufaasau also racked up three steals, the most he's had since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Darren Swain, who went 6 of 14 en route to 21 points.

Florence pushed their record up to 16-0 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.0 points per game. As for Show Low, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-10.

Florence won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Apache Junction at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Florence's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last ten games. As for Show Low, they will also get right back to it: they'll take on Winslow at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Winslow is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.8 points per game this season.
