Basketball Recap: Bayfield Comes Up Short

Bayfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They lost 43-22 to the Washburn Castle Guards. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trollers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 69-30 back in January.

Despite the defeat, Bayfield saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Katherine Saari posted seven points and five boards.

Bayfield's loss dropped their record down to 2-17. As for Washburn, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.

Coming up, Bayfield will welcome Mellen at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Mellen will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Bayfield surely won't give up without a fight. As for Washburn, they will venture away from home to take on Butternut at 7:15 p.m. on Monday.
