The win was some much needed relief for the Buffaloes as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Yamani Perez was the offensive standout of the contest as she posted 22 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Allen, who had nine points.
Smoky Hill's victory ended a nine-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-8. As for Gateway, they dropped their record down to 3-6 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Coincidentally, both will both be playing Heritage the next time they take the court. Gateway will host Heritage at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Smoky Hill will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on January 15th.
