Basketball Recap: Abbeville's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

While Abbeville didn't have the best season last year (they finished 0-9), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They snuck past the Ware Shoals Hornets with a 48-43 win on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Panthers sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Andreyah Sanders was the offensive standout of the match as she went 5 for 10 on her way to 12 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Zarria Belton, who posted seven points and 13 boards.

Abbeville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in eight consecutive contests.

Ware Shoals' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Stella Eichhorn, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. Eichhorn is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least nine every time she's taken the court this season. Brooke Crockett was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Abbeville pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Ware Shoals, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Abbeville will square off against McCormick at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Abbeville's defense has only allowed 29.9 points per game this season, so McCormick's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Ware Shoals, they will take on GREEN Upstate at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ware Shoals is facing GREEN Upstate at the right time seeing as GREEN Upstate is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
