Preview: Ben Lomond Scots vs. South Summit Wildcats
Ben Lomond has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the South Summit Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
On Wednesday, Ben Lomond was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 63-58 to Morgan. Ben Lomond has struggled against Morgan recently, as their contest on Wednesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite their loss, Ben Lomond saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jake East, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. East hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. Jordan Harrison was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Meanwhile, South Summit stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Wednesday. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 70-43 victory over Union. Given South Summit's advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 21st, while Union is ranked 104th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ben Lomond dropped their record down to 5-12 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for South Summit, their win bumped their record up to 17-1.
Ben Lomond lost to South Summit on the road by a decisive 69-55 margin in their previous matchup on January 10th. Can Ben Lomond avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
