Baseball Game Preview: Fallston Cougars vs. Joppatowne Mariners

For the second straight game, Fallston will face off against Joppatowne. Fallston will welcome Joppatowne at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fallston is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Fallston turned things around against Joppatowne on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 22-7 margin over the Mariners. The Cougars' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Aiden Stromberger made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off only one hit. He is becoming a predictor of Fallston's success: when he allows at most three hits the team is undefeated (and 1-4 when he doesn't). Stromberger was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Luca Santoro and Garrett Kersch did most of the damage at the plate: Santoro went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, four RBI, and one double, while Kersch scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Zach Loewe, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Fallston always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Joppatowne is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4. As for Fallston, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

Joppatowne's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Fallston has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game.
