Baseball Recap: Costa Mesa Extends Home Winning Streak to 13

It's playoff time, and Costa Mesa had no trouble coming through when it counted. They skirted past the Kaiser Cats 5-3. Five seems to be a good number for the Mustangs as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Costa Mesa's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Will Clark, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Aiden Comte was another, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Costa Mesa always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kaiser only posted an OBP of .357.

Costa Mesa's victory was their 13th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Kaiser, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-10.

Looking ahead, Costa Mesa will challenge San Juan Hills at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Stallions' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Mustangs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Kaiser does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
