The Jamestown Red & Green are taking a road trip to take on the Frontier Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Jamestown has given up an average of 9.5 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Dunkirk hit Jamestown with a seven-run fifth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Red & Green lost 11-1 to the Marauders. The Red & Green have struggled against the Marauders recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.
Meanwhile, Frontier entered their tilt with Williamsville East on Thursday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Flames.
Jacob Hudson made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Robby Kibler, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Matthew Jones was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Frontier kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.4 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 10.
Frontier pushed their record up to 10-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Jamestown, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-11.
Jamestown beat Frontier 10-5 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Do the Red & Green have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
