Basketball Game Preview: Panguitch Bobcats vs. Piute Thunderbirds

The Panguitch Bobcats will venture away from home to face off against the Piute Thunderbirds at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Panguitch is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.5 points per game this season.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Panguitch turned things around against Bryce Valley on Tuesday. They walked away with a 56-44 win over the Mustangs.

Panguitch's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Daxton Miller, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds. Miller has been hot, having posted ten or more boards the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Bridger Chappell, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 13 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Piute). They blew past Pinnacle 82-56 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Thunderbirds have posted since February 28, 2024.

Panguitch pushed their record up to 12-3 with the win, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.5 points per game. As for Piute, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Panguitch came up short against Piute in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 54-50. Can Panguitch avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
