Basketball Recap: Luis Negrete's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Kofa over South Mountain

On Tuesday, the Kofa Kings lost to the South Mountain Jaguars at home by a 68-53 margin. The Kings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Kofa's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Luis Negrete, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards. Those ten rebounds gave Negrete a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Curiel, who posted ten points in addition to six boards and three blocks.

Kaedience Koronich had an outrageously good game for South Mountain as he almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine rebounds. Koronich has been hot recently, having also posted three or more steals the last three times he's played. Omari Hollin was another key player, putting up seven points along with five boards and three steals.

Kofa's defeat dropped their record down to 3-15. As for South Mountain, their win ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-16.

Kofa wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 59-43 loss against Lake Havasu on the 6th. As for South Mountain, they have also already played their next contest, a 101-79 defeat against Camelback on the 6th.
