Football Game Preview: Jefferson-Morgan Rockets vs. Laurel Spartans + How To Watch

The Jefferson-Morgan Rockets will head out on the road to face off against the Laurel Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Jefferson-Morgan managed to slip by California the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Rockets came up short against the Trojans on Friday, falling 36-14. It was the first time this season that the Rockets let down their fans at home.

Although Jefferson-Morgan took the loss, they still got scores from John Woodward and Deakyn Dehoet.

Meanwhile, Laurel waltzed into their matchup on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They came out on top against the Lancers by a score of 14-7. The 14-point effort marked the Spartans' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Laurel had a senior duo take command as Kolton Carlson gained 154 total yards and a touchdown and Nathan Hill rushed for 83 yards and one score. Carlson didn't just play on offense: he also picked up a sack and made six total tackles.

Laurel's defense also made the game a nightmare for Jino Mozzocio, racking up seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Tyler Fuchs and Alex Medved, who racked up four sacks between them. Fuchs has been hot recently, having also posted six or more total tackles the last three times he's played.

Laurel's record now sits at 9-1. As for Jefferson-Morgan, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-2.

Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Jefferson-Morgan has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 199.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Laurel struggles in that department as they've been averaging 195 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
