Baseball Game Preview: Richmond Blue Devils vs. Almont Raiders

The Richmond Blue Devils will take on the Almont Raiders at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in Richmond's favor as the squad sits on 12 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Almont has been banged up by eight consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.

Richmond's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They put the hurt on Port Huron Northern with a sharp 11-0 victory. Considering the Blue Devils have won six matchups by more than seven runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Almont didn't have quite enough to beat Notre Dame Prep on Saturday and fell 7-5.

Richmond has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Almont, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.

Richmond was able to grind out a solid victory over Almont in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 7-2. Will the Blue Devils repeat their success, or do the Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
