Baseball Game Preview: Forrest County Agricultural Aggies vs. St. Stanislaus Rock-a-Chaws

The Forrest County Agricultural Aggies will head out to face off against the St. Stanislaus Rock-a-Chaws at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. St. Stanislaus took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Forrest County Agricultural, who comes in off a win.

On Friday, Forrest County Agricultural made easy work of Lamar Christian and carried off an 8-2 win.

Lee Roberts III made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He has become a key player for Forrest County Agricultural: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 9-11 otherwise.

In other pitching news, Forrest County Agricultural got a great performance from Trip Carpenter as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave Carpenter a new career-high.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Sean Walker, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Forrest County Agricultural is undefeated when Walker posts two or more stolen bases, but 9-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Norman, who scored a run while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, St. Stanislaus fell victim to West Marion and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 1-0. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Rock-a-Chaws haven't been shut out since back in March.

St. Stanislaus saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Warren Gunter, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

St. Stanislaus' defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-10. As for Forrest County Agricultural, they now have a winning record of 12-11.

Forrest County Agricultural suffered a grim 13-6 defeat to St. Stanislaus in their previous meeting on Saturday. Can the Aggies avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
