Baseball Game Preview: Glendale Cardinals vs. Independence Patriots

For the second straight game, Glendale will face off against Independence. The Cardinals will challenge the Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Glendale is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.

Glendale will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating Independence, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Cardinals sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-9 win over the Patriots on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cardinals have posted against the Patriots since March 10, 2020.

Jose Miranda and Leonardo Raygoza did most of the damage at the plate: Miranda scored three runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Raygoza scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Miranda has become a key player for Glendale: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-6 otherwise. Alex Elder also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Glendale and bumps their season record up to 5-6. As for Independence, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9-1.
