After a string of three wins, Polo's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 48-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warren Warriors. While losing is never fun, the Marcos can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 390th, while the Warriors are ranked 173rd).
Bryce VanRaalte was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds for Warren. That's the most boards VanRaalte has posted since back in November of 2023. Treyton Pafford was another key player, going 7 of 17 on his way to 14 points and six rebounds.
Polo now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Warren, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 8-1.
Polo wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 62-37 loss against Lena-Winslow on the 18th. Warren and Winnebago will compete for holiday cheer at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Warren is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58 points per game this season.
