Arvada West is 2-8 against Ralston Valley since April of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Wildcats are taking a road trip to face off against the Mustangs at 10:00 a.m. Arvada West is coming into the match hot, having won their last nine games.
On Friday, Arvada West got the win against Columbine by a conclusive 9-3. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Luke Alonso made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Kolten DeGroot looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Tate Deal was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Holden Goodrich was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Arvada West kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in six consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Ralston Valley's offense. They came up short against Valor Christian on Thursday, falling 6-0. The Mustangs have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.
Ralston Valley also got a good showing from Porter Peonio, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, Ralston Valley saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mason Gilbreath, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Arvada West pushed their record up to 16-2-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Ralston Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.
Saturday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Arvada West hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .346. However, it's not like Ralston Valley struggles in that department as they've averaged .317. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
