Basketball Recap: Avinger Takes a Loss

Avinger was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 21st straight defeat. They lost 61-36 to the Union Hill Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 60-38 back in January.

When it comes to explaining why Avinger lost, don't look at De'Angelo McIntrye. Despite the final result, he went 9-for-17 en route to 25 points. That was a full 69.4% of Avinger's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points.

Union Hill was led to victory by EJ Mowery and Micah Barlow. Mowery dropped a double-double with 22 points and 13 boards, while Barlow almost dropped a double-double with 20 points and nine rebounds. Those 20 points gave Barlow a new career-high. Eli Mendoza was another key player, putting up seven points and five rebounds.

Avinger's loss dropped their record down to 1-26. As for Union Hill, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-13.

Avinger does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Union Hill, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 45-38 win against Pewitt on the 13th.
