Basketball Recap: Thursday's Win Is Culver Community's Third in Last Four Outings

Culver Community hadn't done well against Caston recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Culver Community Cavaliers walked away with a 34-26 win over the Caston Comets. For the Cavaliers, this counts as revenge for the 69-29 victory the Comets walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Caston saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Madisyn Douglass posted ten points in addition to six steals and five rebounds. That was a full 38.5% of Caston's points, marking the 14th time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. Grace Colvin was another key player, putting up nine points.

Culver Community has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-7 record this season. As for Caston, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-11.

Culver Community has already played their next contest (against Frontier), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Caston will venture away from home to challenge Tri-County at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Tri-County will roll in looking for their 14th straight win, something Caston surely won't give up without a fight.
