Leopold had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They put the hurt on the North Pemiscot Mustangs with a sharp 20-6 victory on Monday. Considering the Wildcats have won ten games by more than eight runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Ashtyn Van De Ven made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Piper Lincoln was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Ava Jansen was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles.
Leopold always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .757. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The win got Leopold back to even at 11-11. As for North Pemiscot, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-11.
Coming up, Leopold will challenge Meadow Heights at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for North Pemiscot, they will face off against Holcomb at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
