Softball Recap: West Chicago Comes Up Short

After flying high against Ridgewood on Thursday, West Chicago came back down to earth. The Wildcats came up short against the Wheaton-Warrenville South Tigers on Saturday, falling 14-4. If the Wildcats were looking for revenge after losing 2-1 to the Tigers when the teams met back in May of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Brielle Borner made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Ptak, who went 1-for-2 with one home run.

West Chicago's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Wheaton-Warrenville South, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Chicago will head out to square off against Fenton at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wheaton-Warrenville South, they will venture away from home to face off against Geneva at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.88 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
