Baseball Game Preview: West Florida Jaguars vs. Suwannee Bulldogs

For the second straight game, West Florida will face off against Suwannee. The Jaguars will challenge the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. West Florida's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Suwannee's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

West Florida is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Suwannee 9-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Jaguars have posted since March 28th.

Keelan Boyd made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Hayden Huntsinger was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Owen Morgan was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

West Florida hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Suwannee struck out eight times.

West Florida's record is now 25-5. As for Suwannee, their loss ended a nine-game streak of away wins and brought them to 22-8.
