Basketball Recap: Seattle Prep Starts Season with Victory Against Sammamish

Seattle Prep gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 75-40 victory over the Sammamish RedHawks. The Panthers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the RedHawks, too.

Despite the loss, Sammamish still got an impressive performance from Rakin Showki, who went 6-for-12 to rack up 19 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Angrel Kankolongo was another key player, shooting 56% from the field on his way to 10 points.

Sammamish's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, Seattle Prep will be playing at home against Gig Harbor at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Sammamish, they will head out to square off against Newport - Bellevue at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
