Softball Recap: Hilltop Beats Blissfield for Their Seventh Straight Victory

Hilltop had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. They blew past the Blissfield Royals 16-0. Considering the Cadets have won 17 matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Kelsy Connolly was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Libbie Baker was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Kuszmaul, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Hilltop pushed their record up to 20-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Blissfield, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-6.

Hilltop has already played their next game, a 5-0 win against Coldwater on the 9th. As for Blissfield, they will face off against Hudson at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
