Basketball Recap: Sebastian River's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

After a string of four wins, Sebastian River's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They received a blow as they fell 51-37 to the Jensen Beach Falcons. The Sharks were not able to make up for their defeat to the Falcons from their previous meeting back in December of 2023.

When it comes to explaining why Sebastian River lost, don't look at Andrew Simpson. Despite the final result, he went 6 for 12 on his way to 15 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. Simpson is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Sergio Hogue, who posted six points and seven rebounds.

Jensen Beach's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Charlie Alexander, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten boards. The dominant performance also gave Alexander a new career-high in steals (four). Vari Newson was another key player, putting up ten points and five assists.

Sebastian River's loss dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Jensen Beach, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season.

Sebastian River wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 65-51 win against St. Edward's on the 25th. Jensen Beach has also already played their next game, a 53-46 defeat against Cardinal Newman on the 25th.
